Rainy Muddy Day

Rainy days can always make you relax, feel safe, can make you get into your own world. For Carl that was his passion. He would always take advantage of rainy days to get into his own world. He would also make decisions or analyze everything in a stormy rainy day. Carl didn’t feel like that at all that day. He had plans; Carl wanted to go to a party and impress a beautiful girl, but this time weather turned into his enemy.

Not only for him but for the whole population in Guatemala City that day turned into a mess. Rain is supposed to be just water, and this time was a mixture of water and sand. The whole city was a covered with mud. Carl was trapped. He missed the party; he missed a chance to conquer a girl; also he lost inspiration for rainy days. Carl was so disappointed that all he could think of was going to sleep. But before going to sleep, he felt like a girl because he was confused how that day could make him feel so terrible and that’s when he marked that day in his heart forever.

Carl couldn’t understand why a perfect plan can be ruined in just a second. The reason why he missed all that was because it was so dangerous to be on the streets when those were covered with mud. So finally Carl prepared himself for going to bed and fell asleep. When he woke up he had dreamed that he went to the party and conquered that girl. Carl based on that dream of that rainy muddy day, made dreams his new inspiration.  That day he won’t forget brought to him something new. Carl thought about how weird it is that something like water can take you somewhere else. The sound of the rain is just like the sound of the waves in a romantic night at the beach, where everything that matters is actually nothing.

Right now Carl looks back and doesn’t regret going to sleep early that night rather than taking advantage of the rain as he usually did. That dream showed him a new world and what he liked about that dream the most was that it was a rainy dream. He believes that even though dreams are now his inspiration, rain will always be his aspiration. Carl knows that he is not alone. Whenever it used to rain, he knew there were millions of people feeling the same and he considered that a way of connecting with the world. 

Carl wanted to have fun that day. But he is young. He has so many other chances of going to party, but the thing is that he didn’t expected that day to be like that. Carl didn’t expect to feel so bad with something that made him feel so great. He was going to Manuel’s house before going to the party, then they were both going to pick up Freddy and finally they’d be arriving at the hotel. Carl also has selected a nice outfit for that night that he was sure he was going to impress the girl of his dreams, Ana. Ana goes to the same school as he is only he is older.

After all, he concluded that one good thing about this was that he missed school for a couple of days. The entire school was closed for a couple of days because it needed to be cleaned up, also the whole city needed to be cleaned up. When he went back to school he had the chance to meet with Ana. They never got to date each other though, but in these days they are really good friends and Carl is dating someone else, whom he calls now “the girl of his dreams”. Ana gives him advices and helps him do cute things for Melanie. That day actually made a change in his life. He got to date someone who Carl considers is way better and he is now living the life he wants and that was all because of a rainy muddy day. Carl cannot remember the exact date of that day. Every time that rains now all he can think of is going to sleep instead of appreciating the rain because he found that dreams are his new inspiration of life.
